Parking and Getting Around

Congrats, you made it to the mountain! We’re thrilled to have you here, but we also understand that navigating the local parking scene in Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte can be tricky. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the parking policies before heading to town so you can choose the best spot for your needs (as well as avoid any parking tickets or tows). This online resource provides detailed information on the most up-to-date parking policies in both towns to ensure your arrival gets off without a hitch.

For guests staying at CBMR’s Grand Lodge or the Lodge at Mountaineer Square, both properties offer convenient on-site parking. Be sure to review your reservation details to determine the best parking location upon arrival.

Day guests can take advantage of two free parking lots located on Snowmass Road and at the corner of Treasury and Gothic. These first-come, first-served lots are about a third of a mile from the base area and tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends. To increase your chances of securing a spot, aim to arrive early!

Public Transportation

Crested Butte’s public transportation system, The Mountain Express, provides free ground transportation throughout Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte. Main transit hubs are located at the Old Town Hall and the 4-Way Stop in town, as well as Mountaineer Square at the resort base area. You can visit their website for the most up-to-date schedules and routes.

Guests needing to navigate Mt. CB can request free on-demand rides within Mt. Crested Butte using the First Tracks App! It's free to download in the Apple and Google Play stores.

Tickets and Passes

Beginning Saturday, June 14 through Sunday, Sept. 1, the CBMR Ticket Office, located at the base area next to the Crested Butte Mountain Outfitter retail store, will be open daily, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On evenings when Twilight hours are offered, the ticket office will remain open until 7 p.m. If you want to save time at the ticket window and maximize your time on the mountain, you can also purchase your tickets and passes online.

Stay on Track

CBMR's extensive trail system features 4x4 roads, downhill-only biking trails, hiking-only trails, and mixed-use trails open to both uphill and downhill hiking and biking. With over 30 miles of trails, some of which connect to non-resort trails, it's a good idea to review CBMR’s trail map before heading out. Be sure to also grab a complimentary map from the ticket office to take along on your adventures!

Choose Your Own Adventure

CBMR’s summer activities provide something for every age, interest and ability. Check out our resort offerings below to discover everything you can experience while you’re here!

Bike Park

The Crested Butte Mountain Bike Park was established at CBMR in 2009. Since the beginning, it has been designed to offer something for riders of all abilities, from beginners to gravity experts! The resort also provides bike rentals, ensuring that guests without their own equipment have access to high-quality gear that is regularly serviced and well-maintained. Lift-served mountain biking is available via Red Lady Express, and as of 2024, Class 1 e-bikes are permitted on this lift as well as throughout the bike park.

Miles of Hiking

No bike? No problem! For those looking to explore at a more relaxed pace, the resort’s multi-use trails offer a scenic and peaceful alternative. Whether you're starting from the base area or near the Snodgrass Mountain trailhead, these trails invite you to slow down, take in the sweeping mountain views, and admire the vibrant wildflowers that dot the landscape. Best of all? Trail access is completely free!

Adventure Park

Kids and kids at heart will love CBMR’s Adventure Park. With bungee trampolines, mini golf, a 28-foot-tall auto-belay rock climbing tower, as well as rock, gem, and mineral panning at the mining sluice, the Adventure Park provides laid-back, family-friendly activities to complement the resort’s wild and extreme terrain.

Sight-In Archery Range

Reflecting the incredible hunting opportunities within the Gunnison Valley, CBMR offers a sight-in target archery course at the top of Red Lady Express for archers to practice their skills all summer long. Lifelike animal targets are set amidst the beautiful mountain landscape in a format that caters to all ability levels. Archers are required to bring their own equipment and must sign a waiver at the Treasury ticket office before hiking or riding Red Lady Express to the sight-in range. Using the range is free. Donations for course upkeep are accepted at the ticket office or via a cash donation bucket at the top of the course.

Disc Golf Courses

CBMR’s disc golf course, 10-3 @ CB, is named after the course’s high-alpine elevation of 10,300 feet. The course begins at the top of Red Lady Express and meanders down to within easy strolling distance of the base area. In addition, CBMR offers a short course accessed from the top of Red Lady Express that provides amazing views of Mt. Crested Butte. The course loops back to Red Lady Express for a ride back down once you have completed your round. Guests can rent discs at the Adventure Center.

Twilight Hours

Back this year as a guest favorite, Twilight Hours will return for twice as many evenings this summer to offer guests extended lift access! On every Wednesday and Friday from June 25-August 15, the Red Lady Express will run until 7 p.m. and offer hikers and bikers additional hours to explore the mountain.

Scenic Lift Rides

For those seeking stunning views with minimal exertion, there’s no better way to take in the breathtaking scenery of CBMR and the greater Gunnison Valley than a ride on the Red Lady or Silver Queen Express*. At the summit, guests can choose to hike down at their leisure or simply stay on the lift for a scenic round-trip back to the base.

*The Silver Queen Express will open on June 28, conditions permitting

Conquer the Peak

At a literally breathtaking 12,162 feet in elevation, the summit of Mt. CB provides some of the most incredible views found anywhere in the Gunnison Valley! If you’re up for an alpine adventure, head to the top of the Silver Queen lift to take on the Peak trail. The route requires some off-trail travel over large boulders, so a high level of physical fitness is recommended.

Adaptive Exploration

The Adaptive Sports Center (ASC) of Crested Butte provides year-round outdoor recreation activities for people with disabilities and their families, including one of the only downhill mountain biking programs in the world for people with disabilities. For more information about the ASC, visit their website.
