Uphill Skiing
Safety First
, opens in a new window
If you’re new to uphill skiing, it’s a great way to get in some exercise by “skinning” up the mountain. We rent special AT gear that lets you hike up the mountain on your skis and then ski back down. Your heel will be free on the way up and you’ll put skins (removable fabric backing that gives you traction) on your skis.
On the way down, you’ll remove the skins, click your heel into the binding and ski down just like you’d ridden the lift. Only you’ll feel that special “high” that comes from knowing you earned your turns.

Earn Your Turns
Earn your turns and ski uphill at CBMR. A variety of uphill routes are available before and after the lifts run. Check out the uphill trail map and read our guidelines before you go (grooming and avalanche control may be underway, so knowing what to expect is the best way to stay safe).
