5 Numbers That Will Get You Stoked for Winter in Crested Butte

The countdown is on! 75 days until Crested Butte Mountain Resort opens for the 2022-23 Winter season, and we couldn’t be more excited. As you’re dusting off your gear and getting ready for an unforgettable season, here are five numbers that are sure to fuel your stoke:

skiable acres, ranging from beginner to extreme. About 300 of those acres have snowmaking assistance, while the rest is au naturel. The longest skiable run is 2.6 miles, from the hike-to peak of Mt. Crested Butte to the bottom of the East River Lift.


of those 1547 skiable acres are rated as double-black diamond. Crested Butte is known as the North American birthplace of inbounds extreme skiing and riding. Advanced and extreme terrain account for nearly two-thirds of the mountain’s overall acreage, including hair-raising steeps off the High Lift, North Face Lift and front side of the mountain.

One trail is perhaps more famous than the rest: Rambo is described as the steepest cut trail in North America. Not for the faint of heart.

This will also be the second winter for the new Peachtree Lift – a three-person fixed-grip lift serving beginner terrain at the base of the resort. It’s your stepping stone to the steeps, allowing beginners to focus on the fundamentals: starting, stopping, balance, carving and more.
