The countdown to Christmas has begun and Crested Butte is in full swing! Every day this week there are unique events to celebrate the holidays from après parties to live music to movies! It's time to be merry and celebrate!
Rock On Ice I December 18 – 20
The Rock On Ice team returns to Mt. Crested Butte for an ice carving festival in celebration of the holiday season.
An Evening with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy I December 18
Bring a fun and quirky beat to your winter celebrations with an energetic big band sound of holiday classics and originals from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at the Crested Butte Center for Arts!
Paint Your Own Pottery I December 19
Join the Crested Butte Center for the Arts in the base area at Spellbound Pizza by Butte 66 to paint your own pottery! Drop in and pick out a piece of art to turn into your very own masterpiece. Prices vary by piece and include paint and firing. All items will be fired and ready for pick up by December 21.
A Christmas Carol I December 20
the lab presents a holiday production of Orson Welles 1939 Mercury Theatre production of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens at 7:30 pm at the Center for Arts. This holiday classic comes to life as a live radio play, complete with vintage mics, period costuming, sound effects, and more.
Winter Solstice Party I December 21
Come celebrate the shortest day of year with a self-guided skin or snowshoe tour to the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks. Enjoy après under the heated glass enclosed umbrella. Tickets are for sale in advance online or at the Adventure Center for $25. Entry includes one spiked cider with Montanya Oro Rum, charcuterie board, appetizers and dessert.
The Grinch Holiday Movie and Pajama Party I December 22
Come celebrate the true gifts of Christmas with loved ones at the Center in a special holiday screening of The Grinch. Enter the magical world of Whoville as the Center’s lobby is transformed. Be sure to come at 5 pm as Santa Claus will be on hand for photos and there’ll be plenty of hot chocolate for everyone. Be ready to belt your finest Christmas carols with lyrics on the big screen. Then, at 6 pm the movie begins. Let your heart grow three sizes – just like the Grinch – as you join in this warming holiday tradition with your family and community.
Live Music at the Butte I December 22 and 23
Join us at the Butte 66, from 4 – 6 pm, at the base of the Red Lady Lift for live music, drinks and food! Live music in an intimate setting featuring local talent - this is where you'll want to be on Friday and Saturday afternoon. This week's live music is BD and the Woodplitters! Bill Dowell is the Director of Ski Patrol at Crested Butte Mountain Resort that performs covers of your favorite classics!
Torchlight Parade and Santa’s Sleigh Ride I December 24
Ho Ho Ho! Watch from the Butte 66 deck as Santa comes down the mountain at 5:15 pm in a sleigh pulled by a snowcat! Get in the holiday spirit as he hands out candy canes to all the good little girls and boys. Then, stay to watch the Crested Butte Ski and Ride School perform their famous torchlight parade down the front side of the mountain at 5:30 pm. Selfies with Santa will be available immediately following the torchlight parade inside the Spellbound Pizza area next to Butte 66.
Oh Be Joyful Church Service I December 24
Join Oh Be Joyful Church for a Christmas Eve Service at 6:15 pm at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square.
