Summer time in Crested Butte is short and sweet—just like your vacation (but hopefully more sweet, than short!). Which means you’ll want to maximize your time while you’re here. So I’ve complied a short list below detailing how to get the most out of your summer vacation in Crested Butte!

Crested Butte is a mountain paradise, which means it comes with a few unique characteristics. The most unpredictable of which is the weather. The high elevation means stronger sun—so when it’s a blue bird day, it’s going to be hot in the sunshine. Pack lots of sunscreen, and clothes that will help keep you cool (a hat and extra pair of sunglasses never hurt either). The nights are chilly (sometimes reaching 32 degrees F in the wee hours of the morning), and spontaneous rain showers are common—so bring plenty of warm layers, and a rain coat.

Lastly, if you’ve been craving your favorite meal at your favorite CB restaurant since your last trip (or have your sights set on something new), be aware that a lot of the restaurants in town don’t take dinner reservations. So plan ahead by calling and letting the business know you’re intending on coming (if you have a large group), and get there early to beat the crowds, or later to catch the tail end of the dinner rush.
