Feel your feet inside the boot and improve the connection with your skis
by: Charlie Farnan, Director, CB Mountain Schools
Your ski boots are an important piece of equipment that provides support to your feet so you can connect with your skis. When you put your boots on, remember your feet, avoid losing the awareness of your toes, instep, heel and ankle. We observe skiers that are stiff and ridged; their movements are quick and out of sync. Our coaching advice is, “bend your ankles inside the boot, avoid clamping the boot down over your feet and losing all the feeling for your feet inside.”
NOW, increase the feeling of your feet inside the boot, feel your feet edging, pressing, turning and your ankles bending. THEN, your legs will work together as a unit. Remember, bend your ankles inside the boots, avoid letting the boot cut off your movements and your connection with the skis.
