The Center for the Arts Presents Christopher O'Riley

March 22
08:00 PM – 11:00 PM

From his groundbreaking transcriptions of Radiohead’s True Love Waits album (which garnered the only four-star review ever given by Rolling Stone Magazine to a classical pianist), to powerful interpretations of repertoire classic and contemporary, Christopher O’Riley has redefined the possibilities of classical music. As a classical crossover artist he has found a tantalizing way to bridge pop and classical, spanning styles from Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and Chopin to Radiohead, Nirvana and Pink Floyd. His adaptations, Lisztian in scope and technical demands, are ingenious considering the harmonic intrigue of the originals, and exquisitely laced with an otherworldly elegance. Christopher has served as the host of the popular NPR music program From the Top for the past 10 years, has appeared with the philharmonic orchestras of Los Angeles, New York, Moscow and the Royal Philharmonic in London, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the symphonies of Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia and San Francisco. He has traveled the globe from London to Paris to Berlin performing recitals and won awards in the Leeds, Van Cliburn, Busoni and Montreal competitions. 8:00 p.m. $25 early bird / $30 week of.
