The Center for the Arts Presents Telluride Theatre Burlesque
Sexy, funny, daring and delightfully scandalous, the Telluride Theatre brings its sell-out Burlesque Show to Crested Butte. It was the Victorian Burlesque of London from the 1830’s to the 1890’s that inspired the famed American Burlesque. Dripping with music, ribald comedy sketches, and an ever-growing showing of skin, early 20th century vaudeville circuits of Burlesque were soon established creating a debut venue for actresses such as Fanny Brice and Mae West. The Prohibition Era marked the snuffing of the uninhibited atmosphere. Today’s Neo-Burlesque kicked off in New York and Los Angeles with a cult following in the 1990’s, full of nostalgia for the historic spectacle, focusing on the self-expression of the performer and the art of the tease. Telluride Theatre's 2014 Burlesque Show focuses on the Tarot. Each act represents a different card in the deck - mysterious, sensual and telling. Let the women of Telluride Burlesque seduce you with a show of all varieties of Burlesque, plenty of pasties, boylesque, and of course – a lap full of surprises. 9:00 p.m. $20.
