Get Packing!
Can't decide what to bring with you to Crested Butte? No problem! We've compiled some packing tips to help get you on your way with all the right stuff in tow.
Summertime in the mountains of Colorado brings images of sunny, clear blue skies and warm temperatures that can reach into the 80's and 90's. You will definitely want to wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat with a brim for providing protection from the sun. In our dry climate, you will almost always feel cool in the shade. So in addition to your shorts and t-shirts, be sure to pack some pants or jeans and a jacket. We often get afternoon thunderstorms, so a raincoat and / or umbrella is mandatory. Finally, you'll want comfortable shoes if you plan to venture out on any of our numerous hiking trails.
Crested Butte is a laid-back, casual place. Shorts, jeans and flip-flops are what most of the locals wear to the areas restaurants and bars. But don't forget that jacket.
Be sure to pack the appropriate gear if you plan to participate in any of our favorite summer activities: mountain biking, hiking, fishing, white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, camping or whatever adventure you seek.
A few other items you may want to bring include:
- Sunscreen
- Lip balm
- Bug spray (if you plan to go off-the-beaten path)
- Camera or camcorder
- A blanket (if you plan to attend any of our outdoor concerts or events)
- Typical toiletries you bring on any vacation
- Extra lotion for our DRY climate
- Medicine (particularly prescriptions)
- Lodging information/confirmation
- Wallet, purse, etc. (cash, checks, cards)
- Backpack / fanny pack
