CRESTED BUTTE WINNING COLORADO’S SNOW COUNT
The early season snow dances have paid off in spades.

CRESTED BUTTE, CO. – January 11 – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) has received the most snowfall in the state from a seemingly never ending January storm, for a new total of 90 inches/7.5 feet in 10 days. To put it into perspective, that's just one inch shy of University of Central Florida basketball phenom, and NBA hopeful, Tacko Fall's full height of 7 feet 6 inches. Yeah. That's a lot of snow.

Due to the extremely heavy and wet snow and the rate at which it was falling, the resort was forced to close early on Monday, Jan. 9, a first in recent history. It was undoubtedly the right call. CBMR re-opened to eager skiers and riders bright and early Tuesday morning, Jan. 10 and has remained open since with unbelievable conditions.

"The safety of our guests and the employees here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort comes first and foremost,” said Resort spokeswoman Erica Mueller. “But we’re up and running and everyone is having a blast out there."

So far 2017 looks to be a phenomenal year for...Read more
