Bringing a Little Grace to the Slopes
CBMR is proud to partner with Mountain Manners, a local educational campaign and advocacy group focused on teaching recreators proper outdoor etiquette. The initiative began as an education campaign surrounding Crested Butte’s famed Wildflower Festival, and the resort felt the message was just as important for winter. The campaign incorporates 10 “Manners,” of which you’ll find a shortened version detailed below, as a reminder that we can all be a little more gracious and kind to each other, and the environment.

Enjoy these fun, memorable tips aimed at helping everyone remember it’s cool to be kind.
We invite you to come and use our inbound mountain terrain, learn Mountain Manners and pass it on, so we can help do our part to protect what’s in- AND out-of-bounds. For the expanded version of CBMR’s winter-focused Mountain Manners, visit www.skicb.com/information/winter-mountain-manners

CB Extreme: New App at Crested Butte Mountain Resort
Mapping Out CBMR’s Famed Extreme Terrain

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – March 16 - Check out Crested Butte's new CB Extreme App. The app has free maps to guide you through the 542 acres of Extreme Limits terrain at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Every crevice, rock, and tree on this vast mountain has some sort of name, official or not. CB Extreme will ensure that you never get lost.

CB Extreme was created by GoMaps and works off of the GPS signal on your phone so even without cell service, you can determine where you are on your downloaded maps. GoMaps created the App by georeferencing the only existing maps of Crested Butte’s extremes, “Extreme Limits Guide” by long time locals Greg Payne and Sandra Cortner. The old map is basically aerial photos with trail names added to it. The GPS signal on your phone now will translate into a position on the photo map within the App.

Crested Butte Mountain Resort was a pioneer in opening inbounds extreme terrain. In 1992, Crested Butte hosted the Lower 48’s first extreme skiing competition. When the...Read more
