Crested Butte Mountain Resort / Epic Pass Partnership

Crested Butte Mountain Resort has entered into a new, multi-year season pass partnership with Vail Resorts beginning with the 2018-19 winter season. Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) Peak Pass and Peak Pass Plus holders receive 50% off then-current daily lift ticket rates at all Vail Resorts-owned mountains. CBMR will offer Epic Pass holders (Epic Pass, Epic 7-Day, Epic 4-Day and Epic Local) up to seven days at CBMR.

While CBMR and Vail Resort’s pass benefits will be mutually enhanced through this pass partnership, Crested Butte Mountain Resort remains independently-owned and operated.

What is the Vail Resorts benefit for CBMR Season Pass holders?

CBMR Season Pass holders will receive 50% off the then-current window lift ticket price at all Vail Resorts (VR)-owned resorts.

Which of CBMR’s pass products include this benefit?

- CBMR Peak Pass Plus (Adult, Young Adult, Child, Junior, Senior (70+), 6 & Under, College, Military).

- CBMR Peak Pass (Adult, Young Adult, Child, Junior, Senior (70+), 6 & Under, College, Military).

Which of CBMR’s pass products are not qualified and exclude this benefit?

All Multi-Day Pass products, including but not limited to, CB Card, 6-Pack, 4-Pack, and any other card/pass products.

With my CB Card, 6-Pack, 4-Pack, do I receive any benefits or discounts at any VR-owned mountains?

No. These products may be used only at CBMR.

When does this new benefit for CBMR season pass holders begin?

The new benefit will begin for the 2018-19 winter season (Northern Hemisphere resorts) & winter 2019 season (Perisher, Australia) and is planned to continue beyond, as this is a multi-year agreement.

Which VR-owned resorts are included with this benefit?

This benefit applies at all VR-owned resorts. The list currently includes:

Colorado: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone; Utah: Park City; California: Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood; Canada: Whistler Blackcomb; Australia: Perisher; Vermont: Stowe, Midwest U.S.: Wilmot, Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton

Are any VR resorts excluded from this benefit?

All VR “partner” resorts in the U.S. (Arapahoe Basin, Telluride), Canada (Resorts of the Canadian Rockies) Japan (Hakuba Valley) and Europe (all partners) are excluded from this benefit.

What is the “then-current” window lift ticket price at a VR-owned resort?

VR-owned resorts offer different prices on lift tickets at different mountains based on the time of year. “Then-current” is the same-day window price of a lift ticket for your age category on the day you intend to use the 50% off benefit.

Is this benefit transferable?

No. Only the named CBMR Peak Pass Plus or Peak Pass holder may use this benefit.

When will the benefit be available to CBMR season pass holders?

You will be able to use this benefit during the winter operating season for each VR-owned resort based on each resort’s respective opening and closing dates.

Can I use the 50% VR-benefit before Crested Butte Mountain Resort opens for the winter?

Yes, as long as it is during the 2018-19 winter operating season.

Can I use the 50% VR-benefit after Crested Butte Mountain Resort closes for the winter?

Yes, as long as it is during the 2018-19 winter operating season.

Are there any blackout dates for this new 50% benefit?

No. this benefit is unrestricted and may be used anytime during the 2018-19 winter operating season.

Is there a limit to the number of days the CBMR season pass holder can use this benefit?

No. You may use this 50% benefit for one lift ticket per day with no limit on the number of days you purchase.

I am a CBMR season pass holder, may I bring a non-CBMR pass holder along to receive this benefit at a VR-owned resort?

No. This benefit is non-transferable. Only the owner of the Peak Pass or Peak Pass Plus may present their pass to receive the 50% benefit. One (1) lift ticket per pass holder per day.

How do I use this new 50% benefit?

Present your valid CBMR Peak Pass Plus or Peak Pass at any VR-owned resort lift ticket window. VR will validate that your season pass is active and issue you an Epic 1-day lift ticket. An additional form of photo ID may be requested.

Can I go direct-to-lift at a VR-owned resort with my CBMR Season Pass?

No. You must present your valid CBMR season pass at a ticket window where you will be issued an Epic 1-day lift ticket for access.

Can I purchase a multi-day lift ticket and receive the 50% off benefit?

No. The 50% off discount is applicable to the then-current price of a 1-day window lift ticket. An individual, single-day lift ticket will need to be purchased for each day.

Can I purchase an Epic 1-day lift ticket online, in advance, and receive the 50% off benefit?

No. The 50% off discount is applicable to the then-current price of a 1-day window lift ticket. The lift ticket must be purchased at the ticket window.

Can I purchase a discount lift ticket and give it to my friend?

No. The benefit is non-transferable and may only be used by the named CBMR Season Pass holder.

Can I purchase more than one discount lift ticket per day?

No. The benefit is limited to one lift ticket per day per season pass.

Which Epic Pass products include this new Crested Butte Mountain Resort benefit?

Only the Epic Pass, Epic Australia, Epic Local, Epic 7-Day, Epic 4-Day, and the Vail Lifetime pass include this benefit.

Which Epic Pass products exclude this new Crested Butte Mountain Resort benefit?

All other Epic Pass products, including but not limited to the Summit Value Pass, Epic Value Pass, Tahoe Local, and Tahoe Value Pass products exclude this benefit.

Can I use my Epic Local Pass at CBMR when it is blacked out at Vail and Beaver Creek?

Yes. The 7 days on the Epic Local Pass are unrestricted at CBMR.

Do excluded Epic Pass products include any benefits or discounts at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

No.

What is the new benefit at Crested Butte Mountain Resort if I own an Epic Pass or a Vail Lifetime pass?

Qualifying Epic Pass owners receive up to 7 days of mountain access at CBMR, and 50% off the then-current lift ticket window price for additional days.

What is the new benefit at Crested Butte Mountain Resort if I own an Epic 7-Day Pass?

Qualifying Epic Pass owners receive up to 7 days of mountain access at CBMR, and 50% off the then-current window lift ticket price after exhausting the Epic 7-Day Pass (regardless of where the pass holder used those days).

What is the new benefit at Crested Butte Mountain Resort if I own an Epic 4-Day Pass?

Qualifying Epic Pass owners receive up to 4 days of mountain access at CBMR, and 50% off the then-current window lift ticket price after exhausting the Epic 4-Day Pass (regardless of where the pass holder used those days).

What is the “then-current” window lift ticket price at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

Crested Butte Mountain Resort offers different prices on lift tickets based on the time of season. “Then-current” is the window price of a lift ticket for your age category on the day you intend to use the discounted lift ticket benefit.

Are the Crested Butte Mountain Resort days “in addition” to the 7 days on the Epic 7-Day Pass?

No. Epic 7-Day Pass owners have up to 7 days of use (regardless of where the pass holder uses those days). If you use 3 days at Crested Butte Mountain Resort you have 4 to 7 days remaining to use at a VR-owned or at a VR partner resort. If you use your 7 days at a VR-owned resort, or at a VR partner resort, you have 0 days of use at CBMR and may purchase additional days at 50% off the then-current window lift ticket price at CBMR.

Are the Crested Butte Mountain Resort days “in addition” to the 4 days on the Epic 4-Day Pass?

No. Epic 4-Day Pass owners have up to 4 days of use (regardless of where the pass holder uses those days). If you use 3 days at Crested Butte Mountain Resort you have 0 to 1 day remaining to use at VR-owned or at a VR partner resort.  If you have used your 4 days at a VR-owned resort, you have 0 days of use at CBMR and may purchase additional days at 50% off the then-current window lift ticket price.

Does the Epic Pass partnership benefit include any other specific discounts at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, such as lodging, ski school, food & beverage, retail, or summer access?

No.

When does the new Epic Pass partnership benefit begin?

The new benefit begins for the 2018-19 winter season.

Are there any blackout dates to use the Epic Pass partnership benefit at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

No. The Epic Pass partnership benefit is unrestricted and may be used anytime during the winter operating season.

Is there a limit to the number of 50% off days I can purchase after using my complimentary days at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

No. You may use this Epic Pass benefit once per day with no limit to the number of days you purchase.

As an Epic Pass owner, can I use the 50% off benefit to purchase discount tickets for my friends/family?

No. The complimentary days and discounts are non-transferable and may only be used by the named Epic Pass owner.

If I purchase a qualifying Epic Pass product in the Spring, can I use the Crested Butte Mountain Resort benefit that Spring?

No. The CBMR benefit is valid during the winter season following the pass purchase.

If I purchase a qualifying Epic Pass product in the summer, can I use the Crested Butte Mountain Resort benefit that winter?

Yes. The CBMR benefit is valid during the winter season following the pass purchase.

As a qualifying Epic Pass owner, how do I use this new benefit?

Head straight to the lifts at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and your Epic Pass will be scanned at the lift.

I have used 7 days on my Epic 7-Day or 4 days on my Epic 4-Day pass at CBMR and want to ski additional days, can I go straight to the lift?

No. To purchase additional days, please visit one of two ticketing locations at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The Main Ticket Office and Season Pass Office is located in the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square. Camp CB, located in the Whetstone building just below the base of the Silver Queen Express lift also contains a lift ticket office.

Is my 50% off benefit applicable toward multi-day lift ticket rates?

No. The discount lift ticket benefit is applicable to the then-current price of a 1-day window lift ticket.

Can I purchase a Crested Butte Mountain Resort lift ticket online, in advance, and receive the 50% off benefit?

No. The discount lift ticket benefit is applicable to the then-current price of a 1-day window lift ticket and must be purchased in-person on the day you wish to ski by presenting your valid, qualifying Epic Pass.

Can I purchase more than one discount lift ticket per day?

No. The benefit is limited to one per day per pass and may only be used by the named Epic Pass owner.

Can Crested Butte Mountain Resort scan my Epic Pass media with RF-technology?

No. You will need to present your Epic Pass to the ticket scanner at each lift to scan the barcode on the media.

Can I leave my season pass in my pocket to be scanned?

No. You will need to remove your Epic Pass from your clothing and present it to the ticket scanner to scan the barcode on the media.

Do I need to sign another waiver to use my Epic Pass product at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

No. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is now included as a released party by the VR season pass waiver.

Will my experience at Crested Butte Mountain Resort be included in my Epic Mix account?

No. CBMR is not included on Epic Mix.

GENERAL FAQs

What is the relationship between Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) and Vail Resorts (VR)?

CBMR and VR are separate companies that have formed a partnership to offer benefits to one-another’s season pass owners.

Does VR have, or gain, any ownership at Crested Butte Mountain Resort through this partnership?

No. CBMR remains an independently-owned and operated resort.

Is Crested Butte Mountain Resort still part of the Rocky Mountain Super Pass+?

No. The Rocky Mountain Super Pass+ has been discontinued beginning with the 2018-2019 season. RMSP+ owners will continue to have access to CBMR during the remainder of the 2017-18 ski season. Beginning with the 2018-19 ski season, CBMR will no longer be a part of the Rocky Mountain Super Pass+.

Will Crested Butte Mountain Resort be part of the MAX Pass for the 2018-19 ski season?

No. The MAX Pass has been discontinued beginning with the 2018-2019 season. MAX Pass owners will continue to have access to CBMR during the remainder of the 2017-18 ski season. Beginning with the 2018-19 ski season, CBMR will no longer be a part of The MAX Pass.

Do Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Epic Australia Pass, Epic 7-Day Pass or Epic 4-Day Pass holders receive Summer lift access at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

No.  Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Epic Australia Pass, Epic 7-Day Pass and Epic 4-Day Pass holder summer benefits are only valid at Vail Resorts owned and operated resorts.

No.  Buddy Tickets are only valid at Vail Resorts owned and operated resorts, not valid at partner resorts.

Are my Buddy Tickets on my Crested Butte Peak Pass or Peak Pass Plus valid at Vail Resorts owned and operated resorts?
No. Peak Pass and Peak Pass Plus Buddy Tickets are only available for purchase at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
