Center for the Arts presents Patty Larkin
The Center for the Arts presents Patty Larkin on June 23 at 8 pm. Tickets are $25. Tickets be purchased here.
Patty Larkin redefines folk-urban pop music with her virtuostic slide guitar wizardry, imaginative vocals and lyrics, and riveting performances. Hers are richly contemplative tracks about solitude and togetherness, open vistas and spiritual quests. Her alto voice can be breathy and confiding or tinged with the blues. Her 2018 release, Song Poems, has been energized by the poets, writers and artists on her path. Using the more malleable framework of the poem, Patty stretches the boundaries of songwriting with a rediscovery of her love of words and the joyful act of making music from poetry. The Boston Globe calls her “an uncommonly articulate guitarist.” The New York Times hails her as “a mood-shaper,” comparing her to the best of Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams. Her over 30-year career has her holding an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee where she is also an Artist in Residence and eleven Boston Music Awards.
