If you like to earn your turns, you’ll want to check out uphill skiing at CBMR. A variety of uphill routes are available before and after the lifts run, and we also have an uphill route available all day. Check out the uphill trail map below for details, and be sure to read our simple guidelines before you go (grooming and avalanche control may be underway, so knowing what to expect is the best way to stay safe).
If you’re new to uphill skiing, it’s a great way to get in some exercise by “skinning” up the mountain—special AT gear lets you hike up the mountain on your skis and then ski back down. Your heel will be free on the way up and you’ll put skins on your skis—removable fabric backing that gives you traction (hence the nickname skinning). On the way down, you’ll remove the skins, click your heel into the binding and ski down just like you’d ridden the lift. Only you’ll feel that special “high” that comes from knowing you earned your turns.
