Archery & Disc Golf

Come experience the thrill and challenge of Archery and Disc Golf all on the same day! Experienced instructors provide a safe, fun and challenging environment for learning the skills and techniques of these exciting sports.  Half of the day is spent with our professional and experienced archery instructors at our classic range or hiking along the mountain trails and firing arrows on our 3D course.  The other half of the day campers will be traveling with instructors through the forested and wild trails playing the fun game of disc golf.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Blue Mesa

Spend the day on the sandy beaches of Colorado’s largest reservoir playing fun games and swimming with our lifeguard certified instructors.  Located just West of Gunnison, Blue Mesa stretches approximately 20 miles long and is a great way to stay cool during our hot summer days.  Water toys, Frisbees and games are provided for a day of fun in the sun!  One of our most free-form and popular activities, participants enjoy swimming and wading, building sand castles, catching crawdads and playing in the natural world.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding & Canoeing

Spend the day learning the paddle sports of SUP and Canoeing from our experienced instructors on some of our beautiful lakes in Gunnison County.  The day is either spent paddling around Lake Irwin or in a protected cove of Blue Mesa.  Experienced instructors will provide technical instruction in paddling skills and safe boating practices. Participants should be comfortable being around water, but no prior boating experience is necessary.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Fly-Fishing

Kids spend the first half of the day learning the art of fly-fishing! In cooperation with the expert guides of Three Rivers Resort & Outfitting, the group embarks on an educational and fun progression where participants learn to tie flies, cast, and try their new skills out at the trout pond.  Afterward the adventure continues by heading to Blue Mesa, playing in the park or exploring local trails in the valley.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Hiking & Orienteering

Join us for a day of hiking our epic local trails! Compasses, maps and games are provided for a fun day of hiking and exploring!  We will offer the opportunity of learning map and compass skills throughout the day while learning about local flowers and wildlife along the trail. We will provide a compass for the day and copies of maps used by the guides.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity.

Mountain Biking

 

Whether you are looking to dial in your braking, cornering or just feeling more comfortable riding your bike on a dirt trail, we have a mountain bike group for you! Prior experience and some ability is required: cyclist must be familiar riding a bike with only hand brakes(no pedal brakes) and shifting gears. Riders will be assessed and grouped into MTB 1st timers, beginner and intermediate groups. For more advanced groups please inquire about the Mt Sports Bike Team.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • A properly fitted mt bike, in good condition
  • A bike helmet
  • A mt bike back pack
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Water bottle/bladder

  • Closed toe shoes, no sandals
  • A spare tube for the wheel size of the bike being used

Rafting

Spend the first half of the day floating the Taylor River with the expert guides of Three Rivers Resort & Outfitting. Experienced instructors take you on a ride through the rapids on oar-framed rafts.  After the excitement of floating the Taylor River concludes, campers will finish up the rest of the day swimming at Blue Mesa, playing in the park or exploring local trails in the valley. Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Rafting leaves at 8:15 am from the Camp CB/Whetstone building in the Mt. Crested Butte Base Area.  You must be at Camp CB/Whetstone Building for morning drop off at 8:15 AM SHARP for the rafting days!!! The van will leave promptly after the 8:15 AM drop off.

Advanced Rafting

New Summer 2019! Advanced Rafting offers programming for older kids to adventure with their peers. Actively raft the Upper Taylor River with a paddle in hand. Learn river safety, paddling technique and how to read moving water. Navigate the whitewater rapids with an experienced 3 Rivers raft guide and Mountain Adventures instructors. This activity is for ages 12-14. No exceptions.

Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing

This is the perfect day for first-timers, amateurs and experienced climbers. We will have options for easy to intermediate climbs. Participants will be encouraged to try climbing in a challenge-by-choice program with a focus on having fun, and gaining knowledge and confidence within the sport. If campers show a natural interest in climbing, they will have the opportunity to climb all day and explore the sport further.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Closed-toed sneakers are required

Advanced Rock Climbing

You’ve experienced the basics of rock climbing.  You’ve scaled the walls and have found yourself wanting to learn even more about this exhilarating sport.  How do I belay?  How do I tie knots? Well now you can take steps to gain further knowledge and push yourself while being taught by our experienced and passionate instructors. This activity is for experienced climbers – not first timers.

Ropes Courses

Ropes Course

Find high adventure in the trees at the top of Red Lady Lift! In association with the Adaptive Sports Center, campers climb to the skies on challenge course elements such as The Swinging Bridge, The Pamper Pole and The Zip Line!  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment.

Zipline & Hike

Take your Mountain Adventures camp day to new heights this summer with the Crested Butte Zipline Tour and Hike Day. The day will start out with a fun and easy local hike, then will proceed to a one of a kind adventure including five zip lines ranging in length from 120 – 400 feet connected by features such as suspended wood bridges and towering platforms.  Ages 7 & up are welcome for this activity and we provide all of the necessary equipment needed for this activity. There is a 70 lb. weight minimum for the Zipline for safety – NO EXCEPTIONS.

Mountain Nature Day

Spend the day exploring and having fun in the outdoors!  One of our most free form activities where participants can find themselves enjoying the day with their friends out in the wilderness surrounded by the epic and beautiful scenery of Crested Butte.  Supervised activities include playing fun games and team building initiatives, learning the natural history of the valley, and building a respect and love for being outside.

After Camp

After Camp provides a late pick-up option for parents who are working past 3:30 or that are going on long adventures while their kids are in camp.  Campers will be supervised by camp staff while participating in fun activities in the base area.
