RECREATIONAL RACE SERIES WITH GOOD FOOD, DRINKS AND PRIZES AFTER EVERY RACE

The Pinnacle Mountain Bike Race Series  has become a staple in Crested Butte’s mountain biking schedule over the last fourteen years.  Showcasing the Evolution Bike Park’s extensive trail system, the series is a favorite for locals and guests alike. This year, Crested Butte Mountain Resort hosts five events.  The Pinnacle Series offers racers a fun and friendly venue to compete against other riders in the same ability class. Ability categories are the same as they have been in the past, giving racers options ranging from beginner to expert; the categories include expert, sport, beginner and single speed options for men, women and juniors. The Pinnacle series will include the Shimano Kids race at 5:15pm, Endurance race at 5:45, and Gravity race at 6:15pm each week. Riders can race the clock as well as each other to gauge fitness each week. We would like to encourage riders to do both endurance and gravity and will incorporate an overall series winner based on participation in both disciplines.

To accommodate the youngest riders, the Pinnacle Bike Series hosts youth racing for children under the age of 12. The Youth Series introduces young biking enthusiasts to the sport of mountain biking, encouraging them to get involved by watching adults race and enjoying friendly competition among their peers.

In 2012, the start date is Wednesday, July 11.  The series will run for 5 Wednesdays throughout the summer.  Each race is free. Registration takes place on the deck of 9380 Restaurant, located directly in front of the base area lifts, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. on race day. 

Races take place on Mt. Crested Butte’s extensive network of trails and winding single-track and each race begins and ends at the base of Mt. Crested Butte.

Youth Series 

Back and better than ever, the Pinnacle Series includes the Youth Series for children 12 and under. The kids races run simultaneous to the adult races and are designed to give kids the opportunity to compete in a positive, encouraging environment, just like mom and dad.

Registration

Race registration is held starting at 5 p.m. on the 9380 deck before each race. Check the schedule for race start times depending upon discipline. Cost is free. Prizes will be awarded to top riders in each category at the after-party following each race at 9380 in the Elevation Hotel.
