SAFETY WEEK AT CRESTED BUTTE MOUNTAIN RESORT
A full schedule of events in place to highlight safety on the slopes

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – Jan. 15 – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) is committed to safe slopes. As part of the nationwide program put in place by the National Ski Area Association (NSAA), CBMR will be participating in National Ski Area Safety Week, January 19 – 27. Each day, the resort will focus on a different safety topic, utilizing the Skier Responsibility Code and other NSAA safety awareness initiatives.

“Safety is a big part of our day-to-day operations here at the resort,” says Mark Voegeli, assistant mountain manager and chairman of the CBMR Safety Committee. “National Ski Area Safety Week is something that is promoted nationwide and we try to make it really fun for everyone here locally. So come up and join in the festivities.”

In addition to daily messages on safety, the resort will be offering multiple events throughout the week to get guests and staff engaged in safety on the ski slopes.

List of events include:
o Touch A Truck (Fire & EMS) and Touch A Snowcat and Snowmobile for kids
o Patrol Avalanche Dog Demonstrations
o Smart Style Station – Terrain Park Safety
o Safety Tents in the base area with safety awareness information.
o Smokey the Bear to join Bubba and Betty in the base area, along with other Forest Service involvement through the Junior Snow Ranger Program. The new Junior Snow Ranger program is geared towards fourth and fifth graders and encourages youth to enjoy various winter activities, educates youth on winter ecology, and emphasizes the importance of safety while recreating in winter.
o Kids’ Helmet Decorating Extravaganza at the Trailhead Children’s Museum
o Employee Hands on Fire Extinguisher and AED Training
o Raffle – Raffle drawing will be held on the last day of Safety Week, Sunday, January 27th at the Safety Tent
o Wellness Fair with local vendors, free food and more!
