CRESTED BUTTE MOUNTAIN RESORT – FINAL WEEKEND WITH EVENTS AND FRESH SNOW
CBMR celebrates over 350 inches of snow, Spring sunshine, and ski events to close operations for the 2010-2011 winter season.

CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – Mar. 31 – The coming weekend marks the final days of lift-accessed skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR). The resort has received over 350 inches of snow this season and 35 inches of fresh snow in the last seven days.  With a little more snow and some sunshine in the forecast, CBMR is gearing up for a weekend full of events to celebrate spring and honor 50 years of skiing and riding at the resort to wrap up the 2010-2011season.

In honor of 50 years of skiing, CBMR is bringing back an “old school” event from the 1980s called Bump N Jump on Saturday April 2. The historic event will take on Ruby Chief, located underneath the Paradise Lift, allowing mogul enthusiasts of all abilities – on alpine or Telemark gear, or a snowboard – to dress in their favorite ‘80s fashions and hit some slushy spring bumps and handmade jumps. In true Crested Butte fashion, the more wild the costume, the more style points received.

Following Bump N Jump, the Annual Slush Huck Pond Skim Competition will take place in the base area. Participants dressed to impress launch themselves across an 85-foot ice cold pond with the goal of making it to the other side. Judges vote based on crossing the pond, style, and crowd applause.

On Sunday April 3, closing day at the resort, Spring Creek Bluegrass will play at the Ice Bar at Uley’s Cabin for one final celebration. The band begins at 1pm to entertain those making their final runs of the season.
