Press ReleasesSUMMER KICKOFF & EVOLUTION BIKE PARK GRAND OPENING
A Summer Kick-Off Party brings in the summer starting on Friday, June 18th with the Flying Gopher Mini Golf Tournament. The tournament kicks off the inaugural year of the mini-golf course and is a fundraiser for the Trailhead Children’s Discovery Museum. A shotgun start at 5:45 p.m. marks the beginning of this four person team event culminating with a pizza party complete with Caddy Shack on the big screen. Registration is from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. and costumes are encouraged. For more information, call Ross Tunkey at (970) 209-9046. The celebration of summer continues with the Evolution Bike Park Grand Opening on Saturday, June 19th featuring $10 Adventure Tickets all day. The Adventure Ticket includes unlimited chairlift rides, bike uploads, disc golf and all Adventure Park activities including bungee trampolines, rock climbing and the new Flying Gopher Mini Golf Course. CBMR hasn’t forgotten Father’s Day is fast approaching. If dad isn’t the necktie type, take him out riding on Father’s Day; dads ride free with a paying child. Crested Butte has long been recognized as the birthplace of mountain biking and to honor that heritage, the resort’s system of cross-country and gravity fed trails has officially been named the Evolution Bike Park. Over the past few years, the resort has made a commitment to improve the lift-served mountain biking experience and has been able to join a select group of resorts on the forefront of the industry. CBMR is committed to preserving the legacy of mountain biking in the Gunnison Valley and will continue to enhance and “evolve” trail riding opportunities on the mountain. The Evolution Bike Park is designed for progression and improvement for riders of all ability levels. The park experience begins at the base area in the Specialized Demo Center where the expert staff helps outfit clients with the size and style of bike to match their riding level and goals. The Park includes over 25 miles of singletrack cross country and downhill trails as well as a Mountain Cross Track featuring berms and jumps for exciting side by side racing action. The Skills Zone, featuring beginner singletrack and a Pump course, is located at the base area and is the perfect place build your skill base or sharpen your fundamentals. In addition to the existing options, three more trails will be added to the park this summer. Plans include build-out of a next section of Westside, called Upper Westside, which will tie an epic piece of cross country single track (built last year) into the upper zones of the park. This new portion of the trail features winding track through dark forest and alpine meadows. Crews will also construct two new pieces of gravity trail, including Mineral Point, beginning in early July for late July completion. The trail design will have a natural feel, including a mix of natural wood features. The third trail is Psycho Rocks, which boasts a high level of technicality and features extensive bridging among massive boulders. A series of new Twilight Rides will take place every Wednesday evening in July. With extended lift hours until 7 p.m., a Twilight ticket (available after 4pm) is only $10 and offers extended night riding for individuals or groups. Coinciding with the Live From Mt. CB outdoor concerts, Twilight Rides are a great opportunity to get some early evening riding in and finish up with music on the lawn. A Summer Season Pass includes unlimited lift and bike load access as well as unlimited Adventure Park activities of 18-hole mini golf, bungee trampolines, and climbing wall. Summer Season Pass covers the entire season from June 19th to September 6th, 2010 and costs $250 for adults and kids. ### |
