Press ReleasesCrested Butte Rated Best Steep Skiing (And More) Crested Butte, CO – November 12, 2008: With the results in for 2009, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) takes the award again for the Best Steeps category in Skiing Magazine. “I’ve heard people refer to Crested Butte as an amazing place for every category, but some folks don’t even know about these areas of the mountain,” says Ken Stone, Chief Operating Officer of CBMR. “Crested Butte’s steep terrain in the North Face area truly pushes the most advanced skiers to the limit. I guess that’s why the US Freeskiing Extremes and the Tele Extremes keep coming back.” From the top of Body Bag Glades, for example, the run drops 275 vertical feet at 55 degrees. Not only rated #1 in this category, Crested Butte was ranked as #8 Best Trees and #10 Best Powder in the issue. “No doubt, we have something for everyone here,” Stone adds. Crested Butte received Honorable Mention as Best All-Inclusive Package, Best Slopeside Tuning Shop (Colorado Freeskier), Best Resort Transportation (free town bus service), and the local Slogar Restaurant earned a tie for Best Feedlot. “Crested Butte is really getting noticed right now,” says Daren Cole, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR). “People are saying some incredible things about us. We haven’t really changed from being a great ski destination or a true Colorado ski town. Personally, I don’t know of a better place to be in the ski industry, or any other industry, for that matter.” Crested Butte has also been named as Outside Magazine’s Top Places to Live Now, Sunset Magazine’s # 3 Top Dream Towns, SKI Magazine’s #20 Readers Survey Top Resort, and SkiNet’s # 3 Top Ski Town. Opening day at Crested Butte is November 26, 2008.
