First Day Beginner Adventure Ski & Snowboard Lessons

The best way to start if you've never been skiing or snowboarding is with the award winning staff of the Crested Butte Ski & Ride School. Our highly recommended Beginner's Adventure Lesson will make you a confident skier or snowboarder. Our Full Day Lesson will teach you to feel comfortable and confident while skiing beginner terrain.  This package includes your lesson and lift ticket.

Here are some tips for those of you First Timers interested in taking a ski or ride lesson!

Times: Group ½ day lessons:      AM Lesson  10:00-12:30        PM Lesson: 1:30-4:00
Give yourself an hour to get your equipment and fill out paperwork.  During peak season, please give yourself an hour and a half. This will give you plenty of time to get organized and get to your lesson on time.

Full Day Beginner Adventure lessons for the First Time skier or rider are from 10:00-4:00 with lunch break 12:30-1:30 (lunch is not included in the lesson, but there are many  places to eat around the base area)

Meeting Place: Group lessons meet at the base area between the Red Lady Lift and the Silver Queen Lift. Look for the tall, green “Ski and Ride School” flags.

What to Bring:
Please arrive at your lesson with:
                Your lift ticket (try to find a place other than the main zipper on your jacket to attach it so it doesn’t hit you in the face)
                Lesson ticket – You will give your lesson ticket to your instructor at the  beginning of the lesson
                Protective Eye Wear – Goggles, sunglasses, etc.
                Hat, gloves, neck gator/buff
                Sunscreen
               
What to Wear: Remember to dress in layers. Although it may be warm in the beginning area, the temperature will drop as you travel up the mountain. Drink plenty of water, eat a good breakfast, and be ready to have some fun!

Group Lessons 

Lessons for ability levels 2 through 8 are specially designed to take you to the next level.  Group lessons average between 4 to 8 people and are tailored to the needs of all skiers and riders.  Lift ticket not included.

Half day lessons are 2.5 hours and are offered daily at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  Full day lessons are 6 hours (with one hour off for lunch) and are offered daily at 10 a.m.

Extremes with ease is our newest group lesson.  Explore the famous extreme terrain of Crested Butte Mountain Resort.  Improve your skills while skiing everything from the Headwall to Phoenix Bowl with one of our professional instructors. This is a perfect opportunity for strong intermediate skiers to be inspired and challenged by Crested Butte's legendary terrain.

Group North Face Guides 

This in-bounds group tour allows participants to experience the resort’s famed extreme terrain, concentrating on skiing and riding off the High Lift and in the North Face area of the mountain. The tour includes an evaluation and light education, helping adventure-minded guests make the jump to extreme skiing and riding.
