On November 21, 2012, all guests will ski for free at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, no strings attached. With a desire to continue the Ski Free promotion, the resort and the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce have aligned the Ski Free with Lodgingpromotion with Butte Bucks, a program that promotes shopping locally for the holidays to take place over the same time period. From November 21 through December 19, 2012, guests visiting the area can also shop in the local stores and eat at local restaurants at a twenty percent discount, when pre-purchasing Butte Bucks at the Chamber of Commerce.
MARKET UPDATE A question many realtors are frequently asked is - “How is the real estate market doing?” Overall, real estate sales in all categories (residential, vacant land, ranchland and commercial) show that 2012 is on pace to match or exceed 2011 sales figures of $107,199,003. In the first 10 months of 2012, 214 listings sold with total sales dollars $96,866,068. There are currently another 44 properties under-contract totaling another $19,563,099 in sales volume. The months of September and October, traditionally slower times in the market, have been very active with showings and contracts, and we are anticipating this strong surge to continue into 2013. Distressed properties (short sales and bank-owned foreclosures) are declining and overall inventory is lower than it has been in many years. This combined with extremely low interest rates is good news for our real estate market.
