They moved here from Yugoslavia in the early 1900’s, helping to form the diverse and vibrant culture prevalent here today.
As much as I loved growing up in Crested Butte, I left in the mid-80’s to pursue first a career in real estate but then turned to my other passion and pursued a career working with Indy race cars. After living “life in the fast lane” I returned home to care for my family.
I continue to carry on family tradition by living in my grandparents’ house that was brought into town from the Floresta mine over 100 years ago. I had never stepped foot in Colorado before arriving here in August to check out our soon to be new home. We have never looked back. The lifestyle we discovered has been life changing. From the 360 days of sunshine to the incredible skiing, we also enjoy hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and even boating in the summers on beautiful Blue Mesa Reservoir. We have happily left the grey New England winters behind and embraced all that Colorado has to offer.
Having left a long time, successful real estate business in Vermont, I stayed home in the beginning to get my children, Skylar and Tristan, settled and involved myself in volunteer opportunities. I spent 5 years as the secretary for the Ski Club, 7 years on the Community School PTA Board, currently serving as Vice President, and most recently as the Rotary Youth Exchange Director for the Crested Butte Rotary Club. This past year, as my daughter headed off to college and my son is now a junior in high school, I have come back to my roots to work with Crested Butte Resort Real Estate. I am thrilled to be back and am excited to be working again in what I believe is one of the most interesting and rewarding businesses to be in. Sara Morgan, Real Estate Office Manager Dallas, Texas is my hometown and I found Crested Butte by way of Washington, DC. My professional experience was in sales and marketing on a national corporate level. In Crested Butte I added real estate development and sales, property management and lodging to my portfolio.
My husband and I live in Mt. Crested Butte and are both active in the community. Chris has spent 12 years as a councilman and former mayor. And I currently serve on the Mt. Crested Butte Planning Commission and was elected to the town’s Water & Sanitation District. In addition to numerous other volunteer activities, we support the effective stewardship of our community.
Moving to Crested Butte with an engagement ring and a wedding date, this “imported” city girl quickly adapted to the Crested Butte life style.
