Zipline Tour

Zipline this Summer!

Take your mountain adventure to new heights this winter with the Crested Butte Zipline Tour. This one of a kind adventure includes 5 zip lines ranging in length from 120 - 400 feet connected by features or “events”  such a suspended wood bridges and towering platforms. The guided zip line tour, including the five zip lines and several unique features, is an approximately one-and-one-half to two-hour-long experience.

Advanced reservations are highly recommended. To make reservations, call (970) 349-2211 or stop by the Adventure Center.  There will be a $25 cancellation fee per person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’ve never done this?
No experience required!  Our certified Zip Guides give an orientation prior to your trip.  A short familiarization session on our practice zip will prepare you for the tour.  Your safety is our number 1 priority.

How long is a tour?
Most trips take around 2 hours.  There are no restrooms available during the tour.

Is there a fitness requirement?
Participants should be in average physical condition.  Our tour requires the ability to complete a 20 minute hike.  The ¼ mile hike is at an elevation of 9,300ft above sea level.  This beautiful hike is mandatory and is the only access to the Zip Tour during the summer.

Are there physical requirements or limitations?
The tour does have a limiting weight range.  Participants must fit into a harness and weigh between 70lbs and 250lbs.
Our tour is physically challenging and requires basic balance and full range of motion to negotiate.

Health Concerns or Medical Conditions?
Any person with a medical or heath concern must consult a physician to help decide if they are healthy enough to participate.  Please contact us if you have any questions about your participation in a Zip Tour.

Is there an age limit?
There is no age limit for Zip Tours!  All children age 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 kids.  Our baseline requirement is that participants weigh between 70lbs - 250lbs.

Can non-participants watch?
The tour is partially visible from the base area.  The final leg of the tour is easily viewable for non-participants at the base area.

What should I wear?
Clothes that will fit comfortably under a harness.  Closed toed shoes that are ready to hike and that will stay on.  Be ready for cool or warm weather.  Loose clothing (scarves, handkerchiefs, etc.) and skirts are prohibited.

What should I bring?
• Closed toe shoes (with heel straps) that are ready to hike will stay on while in the air.

• Light jacket or low bulk layer.

• Hair ties for long hair.  Hair must be tied back and secured.

• Sunscreen is essential at our elevation.  Please apply your sunscreen prior to the tour.

• Small water bottle (suggested but not required).

• Small backpack may be worn.

• Any emergency medication (e.g. epinephrine autoinjector) or medication required for physical activity (e.g. asthma inhaler).  Please make your guide aware of any medications.

What should I leave behind?
• Leave anything you are required to carry with your arms.

• Any food or beverage besides a water bottle.

• Gum or tobacco products.

• Valuables or loose jewelry should be left in a vehicle or at home.  We do have lockers located in the Treasury Building at the base area.  Crested Butte Zip Line Tours is not responsible for any lost or stolen, or damaged items.

When are your trips?
Summer operation is 7 days a week, from June 16 until Septebmer 3.  In addition, zipline tours will be available the weekend of June 9 and 10.  Tours are weather dependant, and may cancel due to lightning.

Should I make a reservation?
Yes!  While they are not required, we do recommend reserving your zip line tour.  You can make a reservation online or call us at 970-349-2211.

Do you operate tours in the rain?
We operate rain or shine.  However, tours can be canceled or delayed if there is lightning activity or adverse weather.
