Wendy Fisher, Mountain Ambassador

Former Olympian and US Extreme Freeskiing Champion 

World Champion, Wendy Fisher is an icon in the sport of big mountain freeskiing, also known as extreme skiing.  Her successful freeskiing career has included traveling the globe to film with production companies including Matchstick Productions and Warren Miller.

Prior to her film career, Fisher was a member of the U.S. Ski Team, competed at the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France, won the 1991 U.S. Nationals overall, in addition to taking home two Extreme Freeskiing world titles. 

In 2009 Freeskier Magazine named Fisher one of the “seven most influential women in skiing.”  Throw in Gravity Games, X-Games, and ski mountaineering experience and there's nothing Fisher hasn't sampled in the high-stakes, high-speed world of cutting-edge skiing.
 
Fisher is a fulltime resident of Mt. Crested Butte, CO along with her husband and two sons.

Philosophy

I personally believe one day can really make a difference. I focus on making sure everyone is having fun and helping individual skiers get the most out of their ski day.  Whether they want to work on perfecting their technique or how to ski the area in a different way, I cater to their personal goals on skis.  I try to help people get out of their routines or ruts and get them to read terrain differently, ski lines they may not have thought possible before, and become a more efficient and confident skier.

Wednesdays with Wendy Fisher Ski Camps

Intermediate: January 4th, February 1st, February 29th
High Advanced / Expert: January 11th, February 8th, March 7th
Time 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Wendy Fisher, local Olympian and freeskiing expert, is again hosting Wednesday ski clinics at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR). In the 2011-2012 season, Wendy will lead two separate learning options based upon ability level: one for high beginner/intermediate skiers on the first Wednesday of each month; the other for high intermediate advanced/expert skiers on the second Wednesday of each month.

Participants can expect to learn how to ski with more fluidity, and how to work the terrain differently to enhance the on-mountain experience. We’ll focus on improving each participant’s technique and confidence and we’ll determine our destination based upon the comfort level of the group.

Intermediate Skiers
Jan 4th, Feb 1st & Feb 29th, 2012
Lesson Time: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

This lesson is ideal for the Intermediate skier who has not yet experienced Crested Butte’s Extremes or is not comfortable with this type of terrain. Participants learn to ski with more fluidity and how to work the terrain differently to enhance their on-mountain experience. Wendy’s clinics focus on improving each skier’s technique and style. The comfort level of the group will determine the day’s destinations. Each clinic is geared toward building confidence in preparation for tackling CBMR’s famed Extreme Terrain

High Advanced/Expert Skiers
Jan 11th, Feb 8th & March 7th, 2012
Lesson Time: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

The goal is to adventure into the Crested Butte’s Extreme Terrain and to help individuals get to know this area of the mountain better. Participants learn to ski the Extremes with more fluidity to make their skiing style more effortless. Wendy’s expertise translates to improved technique and a greater level of confidence by learning the safest way to work the terrain to enhance the experience. This clinic is designed to help participants thoroughly enjoy their extreme skiing experience at CBMR.
