Crested Butte Mountain Resort is pleased to offer another season of comprehensive mountain sports programs that are accessible by a wide variety of athletes, from kids learning to ski and ride to driven student athletes.  CBMST offers various levels of participation from weekend recreational programs to full-time, competitive based programming.

Our fundamental programs include both Cruisers and new for 2010 Mini Cruisers programs.  Mini- Cruisers program is a new program designed from parent’s feedback regarding Fun4Kids. Mini- Cruisers that has replaced Fun4kids is a two hour ski program designed for children 3-6 year olds who want to be introduced to the winter sport and ski around with their little buddy with the same ability. Cruiser Camp programs focus on improving each kid's skiing or snowboarding skills while providing a fun and safe learning environment.  The teaching objectives for Cruiser Camp include teaching fundamental skills and on-hill etiquette at all levels.

CBMST Development Programs focus on taking the kids who possess strong fundamentals to the next level both competitively, or by simply taking their personal ski and ride skills to a higher level in alpine racing, snowboarding, free-ride, and tele mark skiing.   The Development Programs will introduce athletes to both tactical and technical approaches to varying terrain on the mountain.  CBMST Development Programs consist of 3 offerings.  The 2 -Day, which accommodates athletes formerly in the Cruiser Camp, by introducing these kids to the concepts of tactics, safety, no fall zones, and more terrain choices.  The 3-Day, is a further offering from CBMST that works to progress an athlete’s competitive edge.  Our programs culminate with the full-time, comprehensive, competitive based Full Time program which targets those athletes looking for a comprehensive athletic program that will get them to the next level in their chosen sport. 

No matter the choice for your child, all CBMST and Ski and Ride School programs stay true to our mission of offering comprehensive programs for the Gunnison Valley that get kids to the mountain at a young age and help them progress as talented all-mountain skiers and riders.  If we see the kids in our program complete their first turn, ride their first quad, charge down headwall, launch a 40 foot gap or rattle down International at high speeds, then we’ve done our job.


Alpine Program

The Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team alpine racing crew is for those athletes looking to carry on the deeply rooted tradition of ski racing in this valley.  These are the skiers that will dominate all the terrain in the future as they improve their total skiing skills and learn specific ski progressions to build a sound fundamental base in terms of tactical and technical awareness.  All athletes must be USSA certified to participate.  If you are looking to dominate the mountain in the future this is the place to start.

Snowboard Program

The Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team Snowboard Program is  designed for motivated shredders  that want to push their riding  within a group setting that is boiling over with stoke.  Our goal is to ride hard every minute that we are on the hill with a constant focus on progression and a positive attitude.  Smiles, encouragement, and high fives are the order of the day whether we are hiking the pipe or slashing knee deep powder on Headwall.   Slap some wax on that snow slider, pull the boot laces tight and come out to shred with a crew that will help you ride better than you ever thought possible.

Freeride Program

The Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team Free-ride programs target the fast growing disciplines of big mountain extreme skiing, park and pipe skiing, skier cross and tele-mark skiing.  Last year the Free-ride program saw huge growth and top results at regional and national competitions and this year we are looking for more of the same.  Woody Lindenmeyr and his qualified staff are working to create a new youth movement of all mountain shredders, ready execute big spins or charge down full tilt down Staircase.  If your child is looking to become the total skier, this is the program for them.
