Fast Track to Single Track

Come join the Crested Butte Mountain Bike School and learn the skills needed to enhance your mountain bike experience.  Learn as a family, a group, or in a private setting with our staff of professional mountain bike coaches.  Work your way through basic skill progressions that will get you charging downhill and uphill before you know it.

Beginners and experienced riders alike can benefit from a three hour lesson focused on stance, balance, cornering, braking, terrain advancements, drops offs and even jumps.  Groups will be divided by ability and lessons will cater to the group’s skill level.  Instruction is individually based within a group setting.  Coach to student ratio will not exceed 1 to 6.  Lessons are from 10 am - 1 pm and must be reserved during the prior day’s business hours. 

Lessons are available for booking June 19th, through August 22, 7 days per week.  Rental and lift ticket packages are available. 

Lesson Types 

Crested Butte Bike Park Riding Lesson
Riding lessons will typically start in Crested Butte’s Skill Zone.  Participants are taken through a series of basic skill development from stance and balance to braking and turning.  Goals for the sessions will depend on the level of the group.  Skills will be applied through various challenges on the hill.

Bike Park Private Lesson
Private lessons will progress similar to the group riding lessons but will address the specific needs of the rider.  Customized coaching and more individual need instruction is the cornerstone of the private lesson.

Freeride Lessons
Freeride lessons will be specifically focused on downhill style riding.  Riders are encouraged to use full face helmets, compression suits and long travel DH bikes to tackle the technical terrain of DH riding.  Freeride lessons will be focused on lift serviced riding and will employ the Mountain Cross track as a teaching tool.  Freeride lessons are available Monday through Friday by appointment only.  Group and Private lessons are available.

Riding School will begin for operation June 19th.  Sessions are from 10am-1pm.  Please encourage riders to register for lessons in the prior day’s business hours.  If there are lessons scheduled for a given day and there is room available within the lesson CBMR Fast Tracks program will accept more riders.  There must be at least 3 riders for a group lesson and we can accept up to 6 per level per day.  We can arrange for 2 groups of the same level to go out in a single day.

All lessons meet at the CB Ski and Snowboard in the Treasury Center.   Sessions begin at 10am, please be there prior to the starting time.
