Crested Butte for Kids
With their own tailor-made ski and ride school program, and a kid-friendly trail map to boot, it’s easy to see that Crested Butte Mountain Resort completely embraces kids. The following activities have been kid-tested and family-approved, and this just scratches the surface.

Camp CB
Experiential vacations are all the rage for adults seeking out-of-the-ordinary getaways. The concept seems a natural fit for kid-friendly experiences, as well, and that’s just what CBMR has in mind. The resort’s Camp CB winter kids program is an authentic experience-based adventure opportunity designed just for kids. Camp CB is not only the place to learn how to ski and snowboard, it's the place where kids rule. Kids get their own trail map to show them some awesome trails where adult skis won't even fit. The Kids' Terrain Park and a Jib Park are perfectly suited to getting the youngsters rippin' in style. Camp CB encourages exploration and discovery all based around the resort’s mountain location with ski and ride school programming for kids ages 3 (and potty-trained) to 12.

Camp CB Nursery
The littlest adventurers can also explore the virtues of CBMR via the resort’s Camp CB Nursery (ages 2 months to 3 years). Parents can rest assured their miniature Magellan’s are in expert hands, allowing them to conquer mountains and pursue their own adventures in Crested Butte. Infants (2 to 18 months) enjoy hands-on care with a two-to-one infant to attendant ratio. Toddlers (19 months to 3 years) begin to explore their world with organized activities, arts and crafts, games, snow play (weather permitting) and quiet time. The new and improved Camp CB is located slope side, at the ski base area in the Whetstone Building.

Kids’ Night Out
Kids need a night out, too. Enter Camp CB’s Kids’ Night Out program. Activities include ice skating, tubing, movie time, pizza dinner and other fun-focused indoor and outdoor activities. Kids ages 4 – 12 are welcome and Kids’ Night Out takes place each week, Thursday through Sunday. Minimum five children required per night. For information or reservations call 970-349-2259.

Adventure Park
New this year, CBMR introduces the base area Adventure Park complete with year-round ice-skating, bungee trampolines and a climbing wall. The skating rink is made from Super-Glide® synthetic ice and represents the first synthetic ice-skating facility in Colorado. Super-Glide synthetic ice is a high-tech skating surface created by skaters, and the rink was recycled from the American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY, where it was part of a display on climate change. The bungee trampolines provide a turbo-charged, gravity-defying ride up to 30 feet in the air, while the Climbing Pinnacle features a 28-foot, 6-route tower with auto-belay. The Adventure Park will be open year-round.

Lift-Served Tubing
The resort will add a lift-served tubing hill to the Adventure Park scene for winter. Located on warming house hill at the base of the mountain, the Tubing Hill will be re-graded featuring a new tow lift and multiple tubing lanes.

Atlas Snowshoe Tours
Crested Butte Mountain Resort's snowshoe tour is a unique way to experience the majestic surroundings of Crested Butte. Tours explore areas of the mountain where few skiers go, including the new ski area expansion on Snodgrass Mountain, adjacent to Crested Butte Mountain. Participants learn about the history of the area and qualities of the local ecosystem. Tours last about two and a half hours, involve approximately two miles of hiking, and include a guide, snowshoes, poles, a lift ride, water, and a light snack. Ninety percent of the tour is downhill or flat, but participants enjoy a great workout along the way. Tours leave twice a day - at 9:45am and 1:15pm. For information and reservations contact Crested Butte Vacations at 800-544-8448 or visit www.skicb.com.

Moonlight Snowshoe Tours
Snowshoe by the light of the full moon this winter. CBMR features moonlight snowshoe tours three times a year, on the night of the full moon in December, January, and February. Catch a ride on a snowcat to the top of CBMR’s Red Lady Express chairlift and snowshoe the moonlight mountain trails back to the base area. The dates for 2009-2010 are: December 31, January 30, and February 28. Pricing: $60 per person; $65 per person for moonlight tours (prices subject to change). For information and reservations contact Crested Butte Vacations at 800-544-8448 or visit www.skicb.com.

Winter Trail Rides
Journey through the snow for one hour on horseback.  Enjoy the glorious Colorado countryside and revel in the opportunity to encounter elk, mule deer, big horn sheep, and bald eagles.  Half-way through the ride we'll stop to warm up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa. Pricing: $60 per person (prices subject to change).

Dog Sled Tours
Full day and half day tour options allow aspiring mushers to venture into Crested Butte's backcountry. The tour operator specializes in introducing guests to the basics of mushing and, when desired, teaching participants to run a team of very experienced huskies on a pristine wilderness trail. So bundle up, and get ready to do some exploring. Pricing ranges from $110 to $130 per person (pricing subject to change).

Carriage Ride Tours of Historic Crested Butte
Take an informative, 20-minute tour of Historic Crested Butte in a horse drawn limousine pulled by our percheron draft horse Dan. Tours depart from the Chamber of Commerce located at the 4-way bus stop on 6th and Elk Ave. and are available most evenings (horses get a day off on most Sundays during the season). Pricing: $15 for adults/$10 for children 12 and under (prices subject to change).
