The Winter Fat Tire Bike Race, held in conjunction with the Alley Loop, includes a solo race, team/relay race, demos, libations by Oskar Blues, tunes by KBUT, REEB cycles, and a sick 2.8 mile lap starting in front of the Brick Oven, heading up Old Kebler, and rolling counterclockwise around the Red Lady Loop. 27th Annual Alley Loop Nordic Race09:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M.Town of Crested ButteThe Alley Loop, a signature Crested Butte race and costume party, returns with a chance for all ages and abilities to Nordic ski downtown Crested Butte, through alleys, over bridges and by charming downtown homes. As part of the Ski Marathon Series and an American Birkebeiner qualifying race, more challenging loops traverse through the groomed outskirts of Crested Butte. 5k-full marathon races in both classic and skate skiing. Music, food, and drinks abound with the beer garden at the finish line and then later at the awards ceremony. The event also features a Friday night ski-pub crawl, "Taste of the Alley"!

Big Game Monday09:00 A.M. to 04:00 P.M.Crested Butte Mountain ResortThe price of a full day lift ticket on Monday, 2/4 will be determined using the following formula: $1 per point scored from Sunday’s game. If the final score is San Francisco 24 and Baltimore 21, the price of a lift ticket for Monday, Feb. 4 will be $45. However, there is a cap in the event of a high-scoring game; guests will pay no more than $59 for a full day lift ticket. The big question arises, how low could the lift ticket price go? If the score at the end of the game is 3 to 0, tickets at CBMR would be $3 on Monday, 2/4.

Wednesdays with Wendy Fisher10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.Wendy Fisher, local Olympian and freeskiing expert, is again hosting Wednesday ski clinics at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. In the 2012-2013 season, Wendy will lead two separate learning options based upon ability level: one for high beginner/intermediate skiers and the other for high intermediate advanced/expert skiers.
Participants can expect to learn how to ski with more fluidity, and how to work the terrain differently to enhance the on-mountain experience. We’ll focus on improving each participant’s technique and confidence and we’ll determine our destination based upon the comfort level of the group.
The goal of this Advanced/Expert Session is to explore Crested Butte’s Extreme Terrain and to help individuals get to know this area of the mountain better. Participants learn to ski the Extremes with more fluidity to make their skiing style more effortless. Wendy’s expertise translates to improved technique and a greater level of confidence by learning the safest way to work the terrain to enhance the experience. This clinic is designed to help participants thoroughly enjoy their extreme skiing experience at CBMR. Price is $90 per clinic.

It’s a race for those who like to go fast, or it can be skied as a loosely-guided tour. The tour starts at 9 a.m. in the town of Crested Butte with skiers working their way up to Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Gothic and more before finishing at the Nordic Center’s Magic Meadows Yurt for food and beverage. This is a challenging ski with a steep 2,000-foot climb and a sometimes fast downhill. Shovels, probes, beacons, full skins and a COSAR card are required.

Overnight Photography Workshop: Historic Gothic12:00 P.M. to 12:00 P.M.Join local professional photographer, Raynor Czerwinski, on a cross country ski tour out to the historic town of Gothic and stay the night in the Luxurious Maroon hut. Spend the evening photographing the sunset and the full moon rise over the historic buildings and dramatic mountainous scenery that Gothic has to offer. The ski is 4 miles (one way) on moderate terrain to the Gothic town site, or roughly 1.5-2 hours depending on conditions. Cost $225.
