March Newsletter The 20th Annual Subaru U.S. Extreme Freeskiing Championships held at Crested Butte Mountain Resort this past week, were a huge success thanks in large part to the hard work put in by CB Ski Patrol. With more than 12 inches of fresh prior to the final day of competition, skiers were challenged to go big on some of the world’s most challenging terrain. Special Congrats to Lars Chickering-Ayers and Angel Collinson for taking top honors.President’s Day weekend was also exciting around the resort, bringing in upwards of 5,000 skiers to the area; a 22% increase in skier days when compared to last year. The month of March is looking up, 44% in room nights over last year and 10% in airline seats. Nothing but good news from the resort for the month of March. Zip Line Coming this Summer With so many outdoor activities and adventures to enjoy here, Crested Butte easily builds itself into a lifetime of memories for you and your family. Recently, CBMR announced a new on-mountain adventure for summer and winter thrill seekers: a Canopy Zip Line tour. The guided tour, which debuts in June 2011, includes five zip lines, and a series of features, such as an “Indiana Jones Bridge,” a net climb and a spiral staircase. The Canopy Zip Line tour at CBMR is available during the summer and winter seasons; the resort will offer the only guided zip line tour at a Colorado ski resort, and one of the only winter canopy tour operations in the state. Elk Mountain Real Estate Review Real Estate Market Report March is historically the busiest month for new real estate contracts in Mt. Crested Butte. Many potential buyers have visited the previous summer and over the holidays narrowing down their choices. On their March visit, the ski conditions are great, the days are getting longer and the uniquely appealing Crested Butte lifestyle is in full effect. Financial and personal reasons often align this time of year. The result is potential buyers make the move and become owners. This year should be no different particularly given the improving local and national economy, attractive financing including options for second homes, signs of price stabilization and the great value to be had in the current market.
