September Adventure in Crested Butte
September is an incredibly exciting month in Crested Butte. With the leaves starting to change, warm days, cool nights and the bustle of summer starting to slow down – it is a great time to take that mountain adventure, attend an outdoor festival and race your heart out.
Evolution Bike Park: With over 30 miles of lift-served single track connecting to over 750 miles of world class mountain bike riding, fall is the time get in all the riding you postponed during the busy summer months. The Evolution Bike Park is open daily through September 3 and Friday – Sunday through October 7. Make sure to grab lunch or Friday après at the Umbrella Bar during your ride!
Adventure Park: With the kids back in school, weekends are a great time to reconnect and take that mini vacation. Escape to Crested Butte for a weekend of fun at the Adventure Park. Featuring the Powerade Bungy Trampoline, mini golf, a climbing pinnacle and more. The entire family will enjoy a fun fall escape, weekends through October 7.
Zipline: One do-not-miss on-mountain adventure is to fly high above the base area on the Crested Butte Zipline Tour. This one of a kind adventure includes five ziplines ranging in length from 120 - 400 feet connected by features or events such as suspended wood bridges and towering platforms through golden aspen groves, weekends through October 7.
Colorado Jazz Musicians Festival I September 7 – 9
The Colorado Jazz Musicians Festival features many of the extraordinarily fine, often under-recognized, exclusively Colorado-based jazz vocalists and instrumentalists. The inaugural Festival will be held in Crested Butte and features a number of awesome events and activities for jazz musicians, aficionados and those just learning about jazz music.
Chili & Beer Festival I September 8
The 20th annual Chili and Beer Festival, hosted by the Crested Butte / Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Saturday, September 8 at the base area in Mt. Crested Butte from 12 pm until 4 pm. Brewers from around the region and local chefs will test their skills and recipes to over 1,200 “taste-testers” throughout the day.
Crested Butte Film Festival I September 27 - 30
The Crested Butte Film Festival inspires and educates our audience through films and discussions that spark creativity, cultural awareness, and social and environmental change. The four day festival shows one hundred films at multiple locations and brings the best of international documentary, narrative, outdoor adventure and short films home to Crested Butte - in addition to thirty visiting filmmakers and actors.

Park to Peak to Pint I September 8
Celebrate this awesome time of year by participating in a trail run that starts in the town of Crested Butte (Rainbow Park), moves through the Upper Loop trail system, then on to the trails of Crested Butte Mountain Resort…ALL THE WAY TO THE PEAK! From there, racers will end at the base area just in time to enjoy the infamous CB Chamber Chili and Beer Festival.
Emma Coburns 5K Elk Run I September 29
The Elk Run 5k is a premier event founded by Olympian Emma Coburn with the intention to attract runners of all abilities throughout the state and to encourage health and fitness. The race will take place in Emma's hometown, beautiful Crested Butte, CO and all race proceeds are donated to Living Journeys, a cancer support organization in the Gunnison Valley.
