Activity Highlight: Sleigh Ride Dinners
Sometimes the journey is the highlight to an exploration. Set the course for a romantic evening at Uley’s Cabin, a fine dining experience with a mountain adventure as the first course. Wednesday through Sunday evenings, guests meet at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square for departure: a snow-cat driven sleigh is your steed for the evening ride.
Cozy blankets await you on the sleigh, and as you chug up the mountain, with the snowy trees illuminated by alpenglow and the headlights of the snowcat, your adventure is reminiscent of being in a snow globe. Your destination is a warmly lit cabin in the woods, built in memory of Uley Sheer, a miner, moonshiner and mountain man to boot, who eked out a life in a small cabin on Forest Hill. Though his residence was a quaint 6-by-8 foot cabin, your digs for the evening are something much finer—a cozy cabin warmed by a proper fire, trimmed with décor reminiscent of the life Uley lead in the woods.
Arriving at the cabin, a multi-course feast will warm you almost as much as the crackling fireplace and conversation. The menu features Colorado cuisine with French influences that change on a nightly basis.
Reservations are required for the Sleigh Ride Dinners and are highly recommended to be made in advance of your visit. Dinner are $120 per person, which includes the five-course prix fixe dinner and the scenic sleigh ride; alcoholic beverages, tax and gratuity are additional. Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners are $125 per guest. New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day Dinners are $150 per guest; both evenings include a special menu and champagne.
