5 Ways to Maximize Your Trip to Crested Butte Mountain Resort

Crested Butte 5 Ways to Maximize Your Trip to Crested Butte Mountain Resort

Plan Ahead

Don’t kill that first day vibe by having to wait in line to get lift tickets, rentals or lessons.  If you’re able, head over to the Adventure Center and Lift Ticket office located in Mountaineer Square the night before your first day out (the Adventure Center closes at 5pm daily).  Reserve your rentals in advance to not only save money, but save you time (the Crested Butte Rental and Demo Center closes at 5:30pm daily)!  Just click here to get started on your rentals, or call 866-987-0192 today (and did I mention you can buy your lift tickets ahead of time too?  You’ll save even more money!)

If you can’t get around to it the night before, try to get there as soon as things open so you can get on the slopes!  Click here for store hours.

Know the Mountain

There are so many variables that go into opening terrain—and safety for our guests and employees is our number one priority.  Which means if something happens with a lift, or terrain isn’t ready to open just yet due to snowfall, or lack thereof, our mountain operations department will take every necessary step to making sure everything is running safely and smoothly.  That being said, it’s best to know what’s happening with the mountain on any given day.  We help keep you in the loop in these ways:

  • Daily snow reports: Every morning, one of our snow reporters wakes up before the sun to report on how much snow we received overnight!  The snow report also includes the "Groomer's Choice," info on resort events, deals, and fun commentary sure to get you excited about the mountain.  You can even sign up to receive text alerts when we get 3+ inches of snow!
  • Check lift and trail status online, or swing by the Guest Service booth by the waffle cabin in the base area, or the front desk of any of our lodging outlets to grab a printed version.

Rise + Shine

The early bird gets more than the worm. . .it also gets first tracks and no lift lines.  If you’re visiting during the next couple of months, over spring break and holiday weekends, this is especially true.  Beat the crowds and get first tracks by aiming to be one of the first people up the mountain when lifts open at 9 AM!

Explore More of the Mountain

Once you’re up on the mountain, avoid coming back down to the base area by hitting runs that lead to mid-mountain lifts like Paradise Express, East River Express and Prospect, Painter Boy and Gold Link lifts. There’s plenty of varied terrain for all levels that can be accessed by these lifts, and three awesome on-mountain restaurants and bars to keep you fueled up and happy all day (without having to come back down to the base area)!  Have a look at the menus at these 3 on-mountain restaurants: Paradise Warming House, Uley's Cabin + Ice Bar, and the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks.

Eat Smart

And I’m not talking about eating more veggies.  The busiest times in our restaurants is during lunch.  So do as the locals do, eat early, eat late, and ski high noon.  And you’ll avoid the afternoon “hangries” by heading in for après before everyone else does.

Make your ski vacation awesome, and we’ll see you on the slopes!
