Elk Avenue Exploration

The town of Crested Butte was developed in the late 19th Century as a supply town to the numerous coal and silver mines in the surrounding area.  As the mining operations began to decline, Crested Butte was able to grow and survive based on a long history of ranching.  Today, this rich history of mining and ranching is still prevalent in the town’s identity.

Downtown Crested Butte consists of one main street: Elk Avenue.  Elk Ave – as the locals refer to it – is a quaint stretch with dozens of restaurants, bars and shops, many of which still maintain the same infrastructure from...

Let Out Your Inner Child

Bounce sky high, conquer the top of the climbing wall, or hit the miniature links at Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s Adventure Park!  Located at the heart of CBMR’s base area, the Adventure Park is the perfect place for kids to act like kids, and adults to act like kids.

Featuring miniature golf, bungee trampolines, a climbing wall and lift-served tubing, there is something for the whole family.  Each activity is located within steps of the slopes and just beside the Butte 66 restaurant, so when the adults are resting the legs and grabbing a bite to eat, the kids can expel some...

Participants learn from real groomers who share their tips...

16 Emotions of Pre-season Stoke

Pre-season is a unique time of year, far more special than pumpkin flavored everything or football.  It’s that point in the year when people wake up just to open the blinds, the hope for snow serving as an internal alarm clock.  News channels at lower elevations eagerly share the latest weather reports with their snow-obsessed viewers.  Winter is less a time of year, and more a state of mind.  Below I share with you the 16 emotions of pre-season stoke.

As I drive to work, coffee in hand, the gray storm clouds...
